Books I read last month

📚📚📚

Hey there!

I just came back from the gym and had an idea!

Wanted to do try something new for today’s email and share with you books I read last month and lessons I learned from reading these books and hopefully you can takeaway a thing or two.

Book List:

1/ Tuesday with Morrie:

TLDR; A book about a professor sharing life lessons to his student.

This book was the first book that made me cry while reading it, not because it was a sad book but how beautiful Morrie’s lessons were.

What I took away:

  • Live life the best you can

  • Don’t be scared of death when it’s in your life

  • We cannot change the past but we can control how we act in the present

  • Know how to love - Give love and know how to accept it

  • Try not to focus on things that don’t matter

2/ The Dip:

TLDR; A book by Seth Godin on when to give up and went not to give up.

I didn’t know what to expect from this book, it was very short like less than a 100 pages I think.

What I took away:

  • Stay focus on one thing

  • When you hit the dip thats the real test

  • Stay in the long game

  • Know when to quit

3/ How to Make a Few Billion Dollars:

TLDR; Brad Jacobs a founder of a couple billion dollar businesses shares lessons on how to make a few billion.

I don’t have a company, but a lot of the business lessons Brad Jacobs shares can be applied to your life as well.

What I took away:

  • Stay humble

  • Be positive

  • Don’t over react

  • Daydream

  • Have a ‘why’

  • Get feedback

  • Treat others with respect

4/ How Parties will save the world:

TLDR; A book about building a community

This book was written by the founder of ‘What’s Happening Salem’ a local newsletter for Salem. I grab ordered this book because I launched a local community newsletter about 30 days ago and wanted to learn from someone who has grew a local newsletter to thousands of readers per month.

What I took away:

  • Build a community

  • A community can be 4-10 people does not need to be 100’s

  • Make room for everyone to engage

  • Make it easy for others to join

5/ Never Enough:

TLDR; Andrew Wilkinson shares stories about how it’s ‘Never Enough’

I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while now, I had it saved in my list of books to read within Amazon. I finally ordered the book when I saw the book was on sale from $40 CAD to $17 CAD.

What I took away:

  • Sometimes boring is the way to go

  • Think like Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger

See you next Sunday?

Daniel
