OPENAI CEO has 1 thing in common with me...

I wish I could say a billion dollar net worth is what Sam Altman has in common with me.

While on my morning walk this morning…

I was listening to 'How I Write’ podcast and the guest was no other than Sam Altman the CEO of OpenAI or the person behind ChatGPT.

And he was explaining his note/writing process.

How he handwrites most of his notes and ideas.

And…

How he uses a spiral notebook.

And my eyes widen.

I said…”I use that too”.

Good thing there was no one close to me when I said that.

I was surprised he would use a simple note book like the spiral notebook.

Someone like him I thought would use a fancy moleskin notebook.

But nope.

He shared his reasons why he uses a simple spiral notebook:

• Can rip out pages

• Can lie flat

And those are the same reasons I been using the notebook since started to take writing more serious. Also it can fold.

There is a lesson here...

We try to use fancy software to be more ‘productive’ but we end up not being more productive.

Sometimes a simple spiral notebook is all you need.
