Steve Jobs and Calligraphy

Be curious

READING LEVEL: Grade 5

Last night after dinner, I was watching a re-run of a Steve Jobs documentary.

Anytime there is anything to do with Steve Jobs I stopped everything and watch. Even though I have read his stories many times.

Anywho...

There was a part where they are talking about Steve taking a calligraphy class before he started Apple.

He went because he wanted to learn more about different typefaces.

He mentioned learning calligraphy was no use for him at the time, but 10 years later he said this…

“…when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would never have multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts.”

Sometimes we need to be like Steve and be curious.

Listen to other types of podcast.

Watch different content.

Take a class that has nothing to do with what you are skilled in.

You just never know what might come about it.

See you tomorrow

Daniel ‘stay curious’

P.S. I found the video where Steve talks about this in a speech.
