The uber driver opened up to me

Reading level: Grade 2

This week I went to the lawyers office for some mortgage papers to sign, home owner problems.

Took an Uber to their office instead of driving due to the fact parking cost more than an Uber ride.

More on that later.

I enjoy taking Uber’s when I need to…

Not because it’s cheap.

Not because I enjoy when I get driven around.

Not because I get to sit in some new cars.

But…

…Because I can practice this one skill with Uber drivers and that skill is…

Communication.

You see I’m a shy person.

And communication is something I’m not good at. Been reading some communication books in the past to help with that.

You know to help with dating and connecting with people.

And the one thing almost every book says is ask the person questions about the them.

People love talking about themselves.

And with Uber drivers I do that.

The driver opened up with me while going to the law office.

He told me why he is starting over, why he quit his job, why he is going back to school.

It was only because I was asking him questions about him. People love talking about them.

Next time you are writing.

Next time you are on a date.

Next time you are in a Uber.

Make sure you make it about them and not you.
